Seven Mile Creek Landfill originally opened in 1978 and accepts MSW, C&D, non-hazardous industrial waste, non-hazardous liquid waste and asbestos. The daily landfill volume average is 1,660 tons per day but there is no regulated daily maximum. Seven Mile Creek Landfill has a 4,000 kilowatt electrical generation plant that puts power out to the local electric grid – powering homes or businesses in the neighborhood or transmitted via power lines all over the region. Dairyland Power owns the power plant and Seven Mile Creek receives payment for the gas used to create electricity. Host fees are paid to the Town of Seymour, City of Eau Claire and the County of Eau Claire under one host agreement. Leachate is re-circulated and trucked off-site for disposal at a wastewater treatment facility. The site has approximately 7 years of life remaining.
This facility is permitted to accept waste from all counties in Wisconsin and surrounding states and accepts waste from Advanced Disposal subsidiaries and third party companies.
