Clean soil is considered a clean, virgin soil, free of any contaminates, including:

  • Radioactive wastes
  • Hazardous wastes
  • Hazardous substances
  • Petroleum or its by-products
  • Soil removed as part of any cleanup action ("problem wastes")
  • Demolition waste
  • Wood waste
  • Any solid waste

Soil that is free of these wastes is generally considered "clean soil" and is accepted by a number of waste facilities that list it as an accepted waste.
