About the Role
Wastebits is hiring a full-time Onsite Sustainability Supervisor to support our partnership with a large manufacturer in Milwaukee. This role sits at the center of our environmental services operations, managing day-to-day sustainability tasks within a large-scale manufacturing environment. You’ll lead on-the-ground efforts to ensure compliance, optimize waste workflows, and drive forward ESG priorities.
Key Responsibilities
You will be accountable for executing and overseeing the following:
Daily Duties
Conduct full plant floor inspections to identify environmental compliance risks and communicate them to facility leadership.
Submit daily reports on waste generation, recycling activities, and operational notes.
Inspect the Hazardous Waste Storage Areas to verify labeling, container conditions, safety equipment, and spill kits.
Monitor scrap material bins and docks for fullness, overflow, and contamination; coordinate pickups with vendors.
Support vendor coordination for materials like aerosols, batteries, e-waste, and non-standard recyclables.
Operate balers, forklifts, and compactors as needed.
Weekly / As-Needed
Verify signage and segregation for trash, recyclables, and other various waste streams; communicate compliance issues to supervisors.
Ensure containers and bins are correctly labeled and stored.
Collaborate with facility staff and the Wastebits team to maintain material staging and flow.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Oversight & Team Support
Provide guidance to an associate on sustainability tasks and priorities.
Maintain clear and professional communication with customer staff across all departments.
Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance site sustainability performance.
What You Bring
Strong working knowledge of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) protocols in industrial settings.
Confidence in identifying hazardous materials and chemical risks.
Ability to lead independently, manage workflows, and collaborate across departments.
Experience operating industrial lift equipment (forklift certification preferred).
Excellent communication skills and comfort addressing compliance issues with stakeholders.
High school diploma or GED required; additional EHS or sustainability training preferred.
1–3 years of experience in waste management, environmental services, or manufacturing operations.
