About the Role
Wastebits is hiring a Sustainability Services Associate to join our on-site support team for our Milwaukee operations. This dynamic, hands-on role offers field variety and flexible scheduling while directly supporting the day-to-day execution of environmental services and waste compliance tasks across multiple facilities.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in active, industrial environments and wants to make a visible impact on sustainability goals. You'll serve as a backfill for site supervisors, cover off-shifts, and perform scheduled rounds at satellite locations, keeping operations running smoothly across the board.
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
Conduct scheduled compliance walkthroughs of manufacturing and warehouse areas to check for proper labeling, segregation, and storage of waste streams.
Support collection, sorting, and staging of recyclables and regulated waste.
Assist in operating equipment such as balers, compactors, and industrial lift trucks (training provided).
Perform inspections of hazardous waste storage areas, ensuring proper signage, spill kits, and secondary containment are in place.
Maintain logs and report findings using standard templates or mobile tools.
Field Coverage & Flex Support
Provide coverage during vacations, training, and illness for full-time onsite staff at the main campus.
Visit satellite facilities on a rotating basis to perform compliance checks and support local needs.
Work occasional early morning, evening, or weekend shifts to support the backshift waste generation areas.
Communicate clearly with site contacts, Wastebits supervisors, and vendors during independent assignments.
What You Bring
Hands-on familiarity with industrial or warehouse environments.
Interest in environmental work, sustainability, or EHS practices (formal training not required but a plus).
Strong situational awareness and ability to identify unsafe or non-compliant practices.
Comfortable with physical work, including walking, lifting, and operating machinery.
Willingness to learn and adapt across multiple locations and shift patterns.
High school diploma or GED required.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
