The Wastebits Hybrid e-Manifest system simplifies hazardous waste tracking by integrating directly with the EPA’s RCRAInfo platform. This system streamlines the submission process while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Whether you're a generator, transporter, or receiving facility, using Wastebits for your e-Manifests helps you manage the entire process efficiently. This guide outlines the key steps for preparing, submitting, and managing e-Manifests within Wastebits.
Step 1: Preparing the e-Manifest
Before you submit your e-Manifest, it's critical to ensure all necessary information is accurate and complete:
- Input details for the generator, transporter, and waste type.
- Double-check any required documentation or specific state regulations.
- Wastebits will automatically alert you to any missing fields that need to be completed before submission. Only when all required data is provided can the manifest be marked as Prepared.
Step 2: Submitting the e-Manifest to EPA
Once the e-Manifest is prepared, it’s time to submit it:
- Click the Submit button to send the e-Manifest to the EPA via Wastebits’ secure connection.
- The manifest will transition to Scheduled status, awaiting pickup by the transporter.
- Upon submission, the EPA will assign the manifest a unique Manifest Tracking Number (MTN) to help track it throughout the process.
Step 3: Monitoring the Status
After submission, it’s important to monitor the manifest’s progress. Wastebits provides clear status updates to keep you informed:
- Draft: The manifest is still in the preparation stage and has not been submitted.
- Scheduled: The manifest is awaiting pickup after being submitted to the EPA.
- In Transit: The transporter has picked up the waste and is en route to the facility.
- Received: The receiving facility has signed off on the manifest, confirming that the waste has arrived.
Step 4: Correcting Errors Before Transport
Mistakes happen, and the Wastebits system makes it easy to correct them before the waste is transported:
If you discover any discrepancies or missing information, simply make the necessary edits within the Wastebits portal.
Ensure the generator reviews and re-acknowledges any changes.
Wastebits will automatically resubmit the manifest corrections to RCRA to avoid potential delays or compliance issues.
Important Notes
- State Compliance: Some states may impose additional requirements for e-Manifests. Always verify any local regulations that apply to your specific shipment.
- Corrections after CROMERR Sign: It is essential to possess e-Manifest Certifier permissions in order to make and submit electronic corrections, even after the facility has signed the initial manifest. If corrections are made within Wastebits after the TSDF has signed the final manifest, the manifest will update to "Under Correction" status within RCRA. The registered user will then need to log in to RCRA to re-sign and acknowledge the corrections made.
Conclusion
Submitting and managing your e-Manifests in Wastebits ensures that you meet regulatory requirements while streamlining your waste tracking operations. By using Wastebits, you can easily monitor your manifest statuses, correct errors, and ensure compliance throughout the process.
